Video Games Fall 2008

So, I've been playing a lot of video games lately. Here's 3.
Force Unleashed
In the past most Star Wars games have been pretty meesh mosh. Some, like Knights of the Old Republic and Battlefront 2, have been incredible...but others have been pretty average. Of course for a Star Wars fan like my self they're all great, and this game is no exception. In fact the Force Unleashed may be one of the most fun Star Wars games of all time. The game features a great story that happens in between episodes 3 and 4. The game play is somewhat repetitive, but very rewarding. The game features great force powers that make fighting the same bad guys over and over very entertaining. The game took about 10 hours to complete, but if it had been any longer i would have probably lost interest. If you love Star Wars and love video games than this game is worth checking out.
Saint's Row 2
This summer i was pretty disappointed by the direction that GTA 4 took, the game was incredibly detailed and the city felt a live but because of the increase in realism it was a lot harder to just have fun like i could in the previous Grant Theft Auto titles. Saint's Row 2 has brought the fun back to the open-world-car-stealing genre. This game is SO fun! Maybe I'm in love with this game because my character looks a lot like myself (maybe ill show you later) but in this game i really feel like I'm in a gang. The game basically puts you in charge of the 3rd Saints, a gang that has fallen from it's glory in the city of Stillwater, and its your job to take back the city in the name of your gang. Sure, the idea is pretty much stolen straight from GTA: San Andreas, but Saint's Row 2 really does it better. By taking over different neighborhoods you gain more respect and earn more money. The game gives you a real sense of accomplishment as you take over more and more of the city. One thing the game does that really impressed was it made all the mini games and side quests worth doing, a lot of times in games stuff like that is boring and pointless but in this game there are great rewards for your work...needless to say an awesome game.
Fallout 3
The Fallout series is one that has always been fascinating to me, i picked up the first two when i was in 6th grade and have been in love ever since. For some reason the post apocalyptic world is AWESOME to me. So obviously I've been excited about the third installment of the franchise, and the game has lived up to all of my excitement. The game was developed by Bethesda Softworks, developers of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and its easy to the similarities between this game and Oblivion. The game basically tries to fuse the first person shooter genre and the RPG genre together, and for the most part the game does this. It looks and acts like a shooter but also features a new combat system and is all backed by an RPG leveling system. Fallout 3 is really deep, both in its story and in its world. While I haven't completed the game yet i can tell you that it is an incredible experience that will last you a very long time.
